toss & turn
ok, i may have figured out my procrastination at bedtime: my bed sucks! like not only sucks, like it’s just no good, but it sucks its occupant into a cavity in the center. like a pothole hidden by a puddle, so is my bed all wrapped up in blankets. i’ve bought a feather down, i’ve flipped the mattress like a pancake, and those egg carton mattresses, don’t even get me started… morning leaves me feeling more unrested than i was the night before. i’d love one of those space foam mattresses. i’ve seen commercials on tv where a guy will stand on a pitcher’s mound and wail a raw egg at their mattress, and it bounces safely off. i don’t know what that has to do with my sleeping more soundly, but that certainly can’t be a bad thing, right? i don’t know, maybe after the tax refund comes in, i’ll think about that. but for now, i’ve taken to the couch. i have a nice, firm sofa which now serves as my daily resting place (in addition to serving as my work station when away from the office, and my dining room place setting for one). i find myself sleeping much more soundly in the living room with a blanket and a decent pillow.
that said, i’m more sensitive to outside noises, being right next to the front door. so if you’re leaving for work in the morning, or walking by with a leaf blower idling at higher rpm’s than many of today’s 2 door coupes, or God forbid, you stand outside the door of your third-floor apartment calling for the cat and shaking a box of purina to entice your tree-dwelling feline friend, how about keeping it down, for the love of pete!?!! :) anyway, sleep well…
