desperate
what is it about the true God that is so hard to follow? are His ways hard? do good, love God, love people… are they contrary to nature in the heart of the reborn? i believe that we truly want to do the right things; our sin is not usually premeditated… it happens when we are not vigilant, when we are not in God’s presence spiritually… we want to do right things, but are incapable. there is nothing good which dwells in us but God Himself. we are unable to produce anything of eternal value because only that which is righteous is eternal, and there is none who is righteous. it is comforting that God does not require us to be perfect before He will save us. in fact, we need to be broken to receive salvation. those are the ones He seeks… the broken sinner, dying in his wickedness, desperate for help. may we be desperate for God’s presence daily in our lives.
