daylight savings
tomorrow is my absolute favorite day of the year. if you ask me, it beats christmas, turkey day & easter combined. daylight savings day – the day that signals the onset of summer, the days get longer and warmer, and the whole world just seems brighter. i can picture myself sitting on a park bench with a book, or in a car with the top down. music loud, wind in the hair and a beach on the horizon. and it all starts tomorrow… i’ll gladly give up an hour of sleep one night for an extra hour of sunshine for months!
i’ve heard complaints about losing an hour of sleep like it was the end of a dynasty, like all winter long they had been given 60 more minutes of shut-eye, and now someone wants to take it away. then the farmers in indiana (did you know there are three time zones in indiana alone?! well, kinda…). whether it’s the sleep, or shucking corn in the dark, for some reason, some people are convinced that daylight savings should be done away with – you can check it out at www.standardtime.com. end daylight savings – you may as well end daylight!! i don’t know; i may be showing my ignorance, but in this case ignorance is utter bliss. i wish it lasted all year long.
i’m going to bed. i might even cheat a little, and enjoy daylight savings time a few hours early.
